Solve Windows 7/ Server 2008 no responding issue while copying files to USB devices
Saturday, February 06, 2010
Have you got any issue like computer stops responding or copy operation fails while trying to copy files from your Windows 7 or Server 2008 (R2) to an external USB storage device.
There are chances for that on computers especially with 4GB of RAM and has NVIDIA USB Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI) chipset.
According to the KB 976872 article “This issue may also occur when you are using USB devices other than storage devices or if you perform other input/output (I/O) operations on the USB storage device. In this situation, the I/O operations fail”.
Microsoft has released a patch for it (KB976972). You can download the update (for 32bit/64bit) from here.
