Cleaning and defragging Windows registry

The most inherent problems with the Windows registry are fragmentation and obsolete entries it accumulates over the life of the system. Because of this, over times there will be a performance impact on the registry, which in turn will impact the over all system performance. There are several tools available for defragging and cleaning the registry, but we should take extreme care while selecting a tool.

Anything went wrong with registry will potentially wreak havoc on the system. So before doing anything with Windows registry, it is wise to back up the registry by using Windows backup tool (All programs – System Tools – Backup). So that, at any later point you can restore it by using the same tool, if anything went wrong.

    You can backup 'System state data', which will backup registry, boot file etc. it is more secure than using Import/Export feature of Regedit tool.

Disable automatic Meta refresh/redirect of websites in browser for security reasons[how to]

Generally speaking, Meta refresh is a method used by some websites to instruct a web browser to automatically refresh/redirect the current web page after a given time interval.
