How to delete files blocked by a program in Windows Vista and XP- A step by step instruction

Windows, at times, unexpectedly refuse to delete a file that is supposedly in use. But you very well know that you have not opened the file in any program nor is it being used by any program. This is annoying and needs to be solved.

The processor explorer helps you locate this blocking application and the responsible process without much harassment. This is an advanced process management utility that picks up where Windows Task Manager leaves off.

>> Download the add-on, unzip it and start the ‘Process exe’ program without further installation.

>>Open ‘Find’- ‘Find Handle or DLL’ (Ctrl+F) from the menu bar to find the annoying application. Enter the name displayed in the Windows error message and click search. You will now see the program which accesses this file in the process column.

>> Select it and close the search dialogue, the process is now selected in the main window too.

>>Right click on it and open the ‘Kill Process’ context command. This should lift the blockade on the file so that you can select and delete it in the Windows explorer as usual.

Process explorer also has a system performance monitor which is superior to that of Windows own task manager which has similar functional in many ways. A small version of the performance monitor is visible in the tool bar. Double click on it and more detailed version will open for you to see.

Disable automatic Meta refresh/redirect of websites in browser for security reasons[how to]

Generally speaking, Meta refresh is a method used by some websites to instruct a web browser to automatically refresh/redirect the current web page after a given time interval.
