Microsoft introduced a new Malware Protection Center Portal (official Version 2 beta) (MMPC) to the public. It offers an encyclopedia of malware ( Malware is a collective term for describing viruses, Trojan, spyware, adware and other malicious codes) where you will get detailed information about latest malware, tools and resources for investigating the threats, option for downloading Microsoft's latest antivirus and anti-spyware signatures and other tools. From MMPC, you will get detailed analysis of various threats caused by the malicious software such as it’s after effects and remedies to cure it etc. In addition, you can also submit files that are suspected of containing malware or potentially unwanted software to Microsoft using their online form and Microsoft Malware Protection Center will send you the results of the analysis on the submission.
The new portal (MMPC V2 Beta) is a preview of the next version (V2) which contains a subset of the final V2 features [via MMPC blog]. These features include stream-lined sample submission; which is made possible by creating an MMPC profile. Perhaps the most exciting new feature of this release is the ability to track submission status on-line. The user can now track the status of any or all sample submissions made while logged in to the portal.
