Autorun Examinator: Monitors and disables autorun of removable devices

Because of the autorun.inf file used in Windows for automatically launching application on CDs and USB pen drives; plugging an infected USB pen drive (infected autorun.inf file) into your computer will infect it in no time. (autorun of CD/DVD is generally reliable, because there is no way to modify the autorun.inf file). The recommended solution is to disable the autorun feature of Windows.

Besides manually disabling autorun feature, there are plenty of tools available for disabling this feature automatically or blocking autorun.inf file from the removable devices. One such free zero configuration tool is ‘AutorunExaminator’ that monitors all logical drives for autorun.inf file and if it detected, it will disable it from executing.

This type of tool is especially useful, if your PC is a part of public network, you must also protect it against physical access. Autorun Examinator is a portable tool (doesn’t require any installation), just run it and it will sits in the System Tray (near the Windows clock) and monitors all drives for autorun.inf files.

The software was works on Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 7. Required Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installed on Windows XP.
