Bitdefender offers several free security products

In order to protect you from viruses and today’s soaring internet crimes, Bitdefender have offers several free products that you can download and use absolutely for free. As you know BitDefender Antivirus (v.10) free edition is an on-demand virus scanner which incorporates the award winning BitDefender malware scanning engines. The powerful scan engines ensure detection and removal of all viruses in the wild every time you need it.

BitDefender Anti-Phishing is another free product that provides browser-based protection from phishing attempts by blocking the malicious web pages used to steal credit card data and other personal identification information. This tool is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer and with Mozilla Firefox.

BitDefender Chat encryption keeps your instant messages safe from hijacking through a simple and automatic encryption process. It protects your confidential documents and your instant messaging conversations through Yahoo! Messenger (8.1 or newer) and Windows Live (MSN) Messenger (v8.5 or newer).

    It's great that they offer this tools for free. I got them with my bitdefender internet security i bought last year, and they work great.

Disable automatic Meta refresh/redirect of websites in browser for security reasons[how to]

Generally speaking, Meta refresh is a method used by some websites to instruct a web browser to automatically refresh/redirect the current web page after a given time interval. You can see this type of refresh/redirect especially in media sites. This is some times annoying or can be used for malicious purposes by redirecting you to a malicious site. If you don’t like this feature, you can disable this in your browser. Here is how to disable this in Internet Explore/Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Internet Explorer: Go to Tools - Internet options - Security tab - Custom Level button - Miscellaneous category - set "Allow Meta refresh" to Disable. Firefox: Go to Tools - Options - Advanced - General - Accessibility and tick the option next to ‘Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page’. Alternatively you can use extension RefreshBlocker . Opera: Go to Preferences - Advanced - Network and uncheck "Enable automatic redirection".
