Weather Forecasting Tool for Windows 7- Forecaster

Forecaster is a simple weather forecasting tool that provides weather information right from your Windows 7 system tray. Of course, Windows 7 has its own weather gadget, but Forecaster can display weather information of different locations of the world or region just with a click.

Forecaster is a portable software, and it uses Google service to provide exact weather forecasts. Also, you can add as many locations as you wish. To cycle through the locations, simply click on the square dots at the bottom of the dialog. The first one will always be the local weather.

Moreover, the option “Notify me when the current conditions change” notify you when there is a change in weather condition.

However, this tool misses some features. For example, there is no option to change temperature scale (fahrenheit/celsius) and has no option to get additional information from the internet.

Note: This application requires .Net framework 4.0 to work. It can be downloaded free at source here.

Comments

  1. It seems that the author of Forecaster just added the option to change the temperature scale (Fahrenheit/Celsius)...

Generally speaking, Meta refresh is a method used by some websites to instruct a web browser to automatically refresh/redirect the current web page after a given time interval. You can see this type of refresh/redirect especially in media sites. This is some times annoying or can be used for malicious purposes by redirecting you to a malicious site. Internet Explorer: Go to Tools - Internet options - Security tab - Custom Level button - Miscellaneous category - set "Allow Meta refresh" to Disable. Firefox: Go to Tools - Options - Advanced - General - Accessibility and tick the option next to ‘Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page’. Alternatively you can use extension RefreshBlocker . Opera: Go to Preferences - Advanced - Network and uncheck "Enable automatic redirection".
