Fix Common Windows Problems With Crisis Aversion Tool (CAT)

The Crisis Aversion Tool (CAT) is a freeware utility that helps users fixing common Windows problems by resetting services, permissions, networking interfaces, etc to default values and fixing many common issues like printer installer error, USB drive not displaying, and so on.

CAT requires no installation, just run and choose your options and apply fixes. It also includes a Restore Point Manager, research tools, and links to Microsoft Fix It solution center, etc.


Crisis Aversion Tool (CAT) works under Windows 7, Vista, and XP and is certainly a useful tool to fix various computer issues. You can download it at source.

    Just out of curiosity - and certainly no disrespect intended:

    Do you actually try out and test these programs which you recommend ?

    This CAT program seems like it could be a real life-save; however we all hear horror stories about people who have tried programs similar to this one, only to end up with even worse problems - like blue screens, unable to boot, etc.

    We trust your opinion. This CAT program really looks great - but would like to know specifically what you think about it and is it safe ?

    Hi, thanks for the comment and your interest in CAT. For your information, before publishing any article, we will try it in our machine for problems and malware. We will not publish if anything found unusual.
    However, we cannot guarantee that everything work fine in every machine. There might be problems at your end for several reasons. Also, should not try any utility if your system has no problems specified by the utility.

    Thanks for your helpful reply.

    It's very good to learn that you have tested the software which you recommend - especially because not everybody does that. Some people just say here is a new program which will do all these amazing things, so why not give a try ?

    I understand that nobody can guarantee how a program may affect my computer, and that's up to me. But I trust your judgement.

    I stop by on your website everyday - and appreciate all the hard work you do to keep it fresh and provide us with these wonderful tips.

    Hi,

    After running the CAT tool my system crashed and not able to boot the PC. Any one had same issue?

    Can any one help me how to fix this issue without re-installing the OS

Disable automatic Meta refresh/redirect of websites in browser for security reasons[how to]

Generally speaking, Meta refresh is a method used by some websites to instruct a web browser to automatically refresh/redirect the current web page after a given time interval. You can see this type of refresh/redirect especially in media sites. This is some times annoying or can be used for malicious purposes by redirecting you to a malicious site. If you don’t like this feature, you can disable this in your browser. Here is how to disable this in Internet Explore/Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Internet Explorer: Go to Tools - Internet options - Security tab - Custom Level button - Miscellaneous category - set "Allow Meta refresh" to Disable. Firefox: Go to Tools - Options - Advanced - General - Accessibility and tick the option next to ‘Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page’. Alternatively you can use extension RefreshBlocker . Opera: Go to Preferences - Advanced - Network and uncheck "Enable automatic redirection".
