Simple to Use Password Manager With AES Encryption

A password manager is an essential tool for keeping all our passwords and login details safe and secure, but it should be easy to handle and safe to use. Pault is such a simple password manager for Windows. It encrypts your usernames and passwords using the AES encryption algorithm and runs with minimal user permissions for better security.

Pault stores your passwords in a single encrypted text file and cannot be opened by a master password. Moreover, only Pault can read this text file, so it protects your passwords against brute force decryption methods.

Though, Pault is very simple to use and USB portable, feature wise it is far behind some other password managers. But, it is most secure, because it uses AES encryption and runs with minimal user permissions, means it is not able to connect to the internet in any way.

To use this tool, run it, enter a master password. Then click ‘Add New’ option and add password and user name or email address. You can add any number of passwords and user names.

As I told above, it stores your login details in a text file. You can copy this file to a USB drive or online storage service to eliminate the risk of losing your passwords. However, your master password should not be forgotten.

Pault works on Windows XP through Windows 8 (required .Net Framework 3.5) and can be downloaded from developer’s here.

Therefore, the question here is how to restore a USB flash drive to its full capacity.

Generally speaking, Meta refresh is a method used by some websites to instruct a web browser to automatically refresh/redirect the current web page after a given time interval. You can see this type of refresh/redirect especially in media sites. This is some times annoying or can be used for malicious purposes by redirecting you to a malicious site. If you don’t like this feature, you can disable this in your browser. Here is how to disable this in Internet Explore/Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Internet Explorer: Go to Tools - Internet options - Security tab - Custom Level button - Miscellaneous category - set "Allow Meta refresh" to Disable. Firefox: Go to Tools - Options - Advanced - General - Accessibility and tick the option next to ‘Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page’. Alternatively you can use extension RefreshBlocker . Opera: Go to Preferences - Advanced - Network and uncheck "Enable automatic redirection".
