Bing Bar Updated With Facebook Chat

Microsoft has updated Bing Bar for Internet Explorer with Facebook chat and other entertainment apps. The new Bing Bar (v. 7.1) allows you to chat with your Facebook friends, get the info you need, and find the entertainment you want, all without leaving the page you’re surfing. You need to login with Facebook and provide access to the chat to start using it.

Below are some of the notable features included in the new BingBar

Slacker Radio – Lets you listen to music, news, and other entertainments while browsing the Internet. Slacker is the most personalized radio service available.

Fresh News App - In this update, Microsoft has made the Bing Bar news app more visual and expanded news sources so you can focus on the topics that matter most to you. When news breaks, you’ll get an immediate notification right from the Bing Bar.

Search Suggestions - You often trigger a search from a web page you’re browsing. To make it even easier, the Bing Bar provides suggested search terms as you browse.

Note: Not all features are available in all markets, but Bing team is working to expand app offerings on a global basis. [Via]

Internet Explorer: Go to Tools - Internet options - Security tab - Custom Level button - Miscellaneous category - set "Allow Meta refresh" to Disable. Firefox: Go to Tools - Options - Advanced - General - Accessibility and tick the option next to ‘Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page’. Alternatively you can use extension RefreshBlocker . Opera: Go to Preferences - Advanced - Network and uncheck "Enable automatic redirection".
