Virtual keyboard inside Firefox browser

Monday, June 15, 2009

A virtual keyboard enables users to enter logins and passwords safely. That is, it could reduce the risk of keystroke logging in some extend. If you enter sensitive information directly through your keyboard, programs like keyloggers can log your key presses and transmit this to the phishers.

If you are a Firefox fan, here is how to add a virtual keyboard onto your browser. This is a GreaseMonkey script, after installing, it adds a virtual keyboard to text fields, password fields and text areas. Just double click the field (see image) to see the keyboard on your monitor and enter letters and special characters using your mouse.

To install Virtual Keyboard follow as described below.
1. Install GreaseMonkey add-on from Mozilla (If already not installed)
2. Install Virtual keyboard script from UserScripts.
3. To use the keyboard, just double click the text area or form field.
