Portable Windows Movie Maker for Windows XP, Vista and Windows7

You may remember my previous post about older version of Windows Movie Maker (v.2.6) for Windows vista and Seven, but it lacks some features from original movie maker like the video capturing ability from devices like a dv camera etc. WinMatrix.com has developed a portable version of Windows Movie Maker (2.6), which is compatible with all builds of Windows 7, Vista and XP and include all features.

As it is a portable version, you need not install it. Download the zip file and unzip in a folder. Run the ‘Runonce.bat’ file preferably as administrator. Then launch movie maker by clicking ‘Moviemk.exe’ file.

However, while testing this with Windows 7 build 7000, it shows some errors. For example the preview window remains black when previewing a movie. The developer should look in to that. [Via].
