Free utility to solve Windows USB flash drive formatting issues

USB flash drives are very handy tool for carrying data. But to erase all data from a flash drive or memory stick you need to format it. If you are a Windows user generally you use Windows disk formatting option for this.

But the problem is that Windows formatting option is not well designed for formatting flash drives. It could not completely format or some times won’t able to format it.

Moreover, for some reasons the default formatting option is set to FAT 32 only. In order to format a USB drives in NTFS , you need to do some changes from My Computer – Mange - your USB drive under ‘Disk Drives heading’ – Right click and select Properties - Policies tab - 'Optimize for performance' – Ok.

In order solve all these issues, here is a freeware tool HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, that lets you completely format your flash drive using FAT 32 (up to 32GB) or NTFS file system.

Download (1.97Mb, v.2.0) and install it from here. Insert your flash drive or memory stick you want to format and select an option (FAT, NTFS, Quick format, Enable compression (NTFS)) to format.
