Windows Vista has built in file encryption utility. Normally you can access it from the file properties dialogue box.
But if you want to encrypt and decrypt files and folders frequently, this is inconvenient and you may want to add this tool to context menu to access it from right clicks.
To enable this tool to context menu you need a small registry tweak. Click on ‘Start’ In Vista and type regedit and hit the enter key.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.
Now right click on the right pane, select ‘New’ and then ‘DEWORD 32bit Value’ and name it EncryptionContextMenu
After entering this, double click on it and enter 1 instead of 0 in the ‘Value data field.
That’s all. Now if you want to encrypt or decrypt a file, just right click on it.
