In recent times rogue internet security programs are circulating over the internet that mimics the popular security program for confusing users. These programs pose security and financial threat to the users (examples here / here / here). One such program is Adware Pro detected by ESET that looks like popular application Ad-Aware from Lavasoft (see image below)
Adware Pro is a rogue security program that installs malware on your system. As shown the image below it tries to deceive you through a name similar to the real one and offering a free download of the program. If you installed and scanned your PC with this program, it displays exaggerated scan results and forces you to buy it for removing the threats.
This rogue program is detected by NOD32 as Win32/Adware.AntivirusPro. So it is advisable that, before downloading and installing such programs it is always essential to verify the reliability of the program. [Via – Eset]

ReplyDeleteNice share! Everyone should beware of such fake programs. Not only anti-virus programs, but other category of software are also there. Fore example fake Winrar bundled with a virus file!
