To know a user’s surfing history (how and where the user visited a site, etc) and other corresponding information, a forensic examiner can make use this database.
The freeware, command line tool Firefox 3 Extractor' (f3e) can extract information from the SQLite databases. You can use this tool to view the history stored by your browser.
To use this tool, simply place the SQLite files that you wish to extract the information from into the same directory as the f3e program and run it.
You can find the SQLite files at the following location:
GNU/Linux: /home/<user>/.mozilla/firefox/<profile folder>/
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>\
Windows Vista : C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>\Where <profile folder>takes the form of ????????.default, i.e. pd9xzn5p.default.
Google Chrome - Windows XP : C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\
