Free tool to extract information from Firefox SQLite database

Mozilla Firefox 3.x and Google Chrome stores user history, bookmarks and other information in a database called SQLite.

To know a user’s surfing history (how and where the user visited a site, etc) and other corresponding information, a forensic examiner can make use this database.

The freeware, command line tool Firefox 3 Extractor' (f3e) can extract information from the SQLite databases. You can use this tool to view the history stored by your browser.

To use this tool, simply place the SQLite files that you wish to extract the information from into the same directory as the f3e program and run it.

You can find the SQLite files at the following location:

GNU/Linux: /home/<user>/.mozilla/firefox/<profile folder>/

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>\

Windows Vista : C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>\Where <profile folder>takes the form of ????????.default, i.e. pd9xzn5p.default.

Google Chrome - Windows XP : C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\

More information and download Firefox 3 Extractor from the program home page.

Restore Lost Capacity Of Your USB Flash Drive (How to)

Some malware can hide full capacity of your USB flash drive. For example, a 4GB pen drive sometimes shows only 500kb or less. Therefore, the question here is how to restore a USB flash drive to its full capacity.

PaperBus-free & fast web proxy solution for anonymous internet surfing

There are several free proxy solutions available for downloading ( we had covered few of them in the previous posts ), but from my personal experience most of them are very slow in my country. If you are looking for a free, fast and reliable proxy solution for anonymous surfing, Here is a new multi-platform application, PaperBus (ad-supported) which lets you surf anonymously and bypass internet filters. Paper bus (brought you by Open Terrace Ltd the same company that made commercial proxy service Freedur) is very easy to use. Simply install, and run. No registration required. The only down side is there will be an ad web browser tab popping up in every twenty minutes while you are using it. Another interesting feature of PaperBus is that you can create a list of websites you don't want to surf through PaperBus. PaperBus is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux systems. Download appropriate version from here. ( via )
