How to remove older versions of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to protect your computer?

You probably have JRE ( Java Runtime Environment) installed on your computer as these applets often required to play online games, chat with people, view images in 3D, and many others.

As with all software, the JRE is updated on a regular basis in order to give security and new features. The older versions should be removed from your computer because these are no longer required. Older versions potentially pose a threat to your security due to the possible vulnerabilities or security holes that may exist in them.

JavaRa is a tiny freeware (150Kb) tool that checks if your computer has the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

If the version you have installed has been superseded by a newer version the program will download and install this newer version for you, by running Java’s update program. JavaRa then allows you to remove all possible older versions of this program.

This will ensure that the security of your computer is enhanced and extra space on your hard disk is created. Currently, JavaRa supports Windows 9x, 2k, XP, and Vista without UAC.
