Microsoft has developed an all new file formats for its Office 2010 and 2007 to improve security and interoperability with different programs. But the new ‘.docx’ file has no backwards compatibility; you cannot read or open it with your old Word 2003 program.

  3. the above program is useful only when we have to handle a .docx file in a system using earlier version of ms word. In office 2007 we can covert the file from .docx to .doc by just opening the file and using the save as command - under 'save as type' - and carry the same for using in system having earlier version of ms office.
