Tips to make Private browsing mode even more private

Private browsing mode is a great privacy feature for browsers. This feature was first introduced in Apple Safari, then Firefox, Internet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome.

With private surfing, you can surf any website with out your activities being stored in the browser history. That is, all browsing history, temporary files and cookies will be removed upon closing your browser.

But unfortunately, an advanced user can still locate any web address that you’re recently visited very easily from the local DNS cache.

You can test this. After closing your browser, just type ipconfig /displaydns in command prompt (in Windows 7, right click Command prompt and Select Run as Administrator) and hit enter.

To clear all those details from your local DNS cache, just type ipconfig /flushdns in the command prompt and hit Enter.

Hope this will help you surf the Internet more privately.

  3. @ Anonymous,

I don't know the exact reason. Run command prompt as an administrator.
Or make sure that the DNS Client service is running and set to automatic on your XP SP3 by typing services.msc in the run box.

Therefore, the question here is how to restore a USB flash drive to its full capacity.

Disable automatic Meta refresh/redirect of websites in browser for security reasons[how to]

Generally speaking, Meta refresh is a method used by some websites to instruct a web browser to automatically refresh/redirect the current web page after a given time interval. You can see this type of refresh/redirect especially in media sites. This is some times annoying or can be used for malicious purposes by redirecting you to a malicious site. If you don’t like this feature, you can disable this in your browser. Here is how to disable this in Internet Explore/Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Internet Explorer: Go to Tools - Internet options - Security tab - Custom Level button - Miscellaneous category - set "Allow Meta refresh" to Disable. Firefox: Go to Tools - Options - Advanced - General - Accessibility and tick the option next to ‘Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page’. Alternatively you can use extension RefreshBlocker . Opera: Go to Preferences - Advanced - Network and uncheck "Enable automatic redirection".
