Windows 8 Lets You Boot Directly to Other OS (How to)

One of the new features of Windows 8 is that it lets you boot directly into other operating system from Windows 8, if it is a Windows 7 or Vista multi-boot computer. Prior to Windows 8, this requires a long process - clicking restart, waiting for Windows to shut down, waiting for BIOS to post, and then selecting the OS you want to boot into or you need to install third-party tools like iReboot.

This new feature of Windows 8 makes it quite useful when we need to reboot into other OS, for instance from Windows 8 to Windows 7, Vista or XP. It saves dual reboot of your system. Here is how it is.

From Windows 8, click “Settings” (Win +I) and then click “Change PC Settings”. Now go to “General” and under “Advanced Start-up” click “Restart now” option.

Now, you will see a couple of options. Select “Use Another Operating System” from the options. It’ll display the boot menu. From the boot menu, just select Windows 7 or other OS. That’s it. [Via – techtrickz]
