Metro Scaler Lets You Increase or Decrease Tile Row on Windows 8 Modern UI

As you might know, the Windows 8 Modern UI is optimized for all types of display resolutions. Windows 8 will automatically adjust the number of tile row according to the display size. However, if you want to manually increase or decrease the tile row, Windows 8 doesn’t provides an option, but with a simple tool called Metro Scaler, you can increase or decrease the tile rows.


Metro Scaler is a tiny tool (25KB) that lets you scale the Metro UI based on the screen size. The app lets you choose a display size between 5 inch and 25 inch.

Using Metro Scaler is dead simple. Just run the portable tool, choose a size (5 – 25) by using the slider and click “Scale” button. Then restart your PC and see the changes.


If you wish to restore the changes to defaults, just click the ‘Reset to default’ button at the bottom-left of the app window.

Metro Scaler is an open source application that supports both Windows8 and Windows RT. You can download it from source here.

Generally speaking, Meta refresh is a method used by some websites to instruct a web browser to automatically refresh/redirect the current web page after a given time interval.
